ADOPTED!!!
Willow
is a sweet, intelligent 18 month old silver/black, female GSD who weighs about 65lbs.  This young sweetheart was an owner surrender who lived with other dogs and a dog savvy cat.  She is doing well in her foster home working on boundaries.  She does well when matched with dogs, preferably males as she plays a bit rough. She craves attention, but can become over stimulated with too much.  She is a sweet, active gal who would enjoy an experienced GSD family, or person willing to give her the attention and training she deserves.  She would love a yard  and daily walks or runs.  She is house and crate trained. This beauty is not recommended for a first time Shepherd adopter.  She is confident with very little submissiveness, the standard breed temperament and she can be assertive and pushy; will challenge leadership status. She is an independent problem-solver that will try to out-think her owner. With her usually Moderate to High Energy she will need physical and mental exercise regularly for life.  If needs are not met, she will take over the household in a hot second and can become destructive or an escapist.  Willow is spayed, current on vaccinations, heart worm negative, micro-chipped and waiting for that family or person to spend the rest of her life with.  Do you have what it takes for this gorgeous gal?

ADOPTED!!!  Hi  my name is Magnolia.

ADOPTED!!!
Hi, my name is
Destiny. I am a 3-year-old, female GSD and around 75lbs. A good Samaritan found me in the river and I was too weak to get out on my own so they rescued me. I weighed 25lbs. at that time, but I have progressed nicely and put on weight. So happy for a second chance at life!
My basic obedience is great, and I am crate trained, house trained and walk nicely on leash. An obedience class would be fun and help me bond with my new owner! I know sit, down, come, wait, and leave it.
I get along with other dogs with proper introduction. Due to my high prey drive a home with cats or small animals is not recommended. My interest would be too high and end up chasing them. My great personality allows me to be around children with proper supervision.
As with all my fellow GSD friends at the rescue I am spayed, HW negative, current on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Is a sweet and loving girl like me part of your Destiny? Please contact EDCGSR and fill out an application to meet me.
Destiny is a special needs dog as she has a condition know as EPI and will need to be on medication for the rest of her life.

 My name is
Max! I'm a 4 year old GSD mix with a handsome tan coat and black saddle. I can be a little timid when meeting new people at first, but will warm up to most anyone.  I'm living in a foster home with 2 other male dogs and get along pretty well with them.  Sometimes I want to try and be boss but it never goes far.  I thrive with clear boundaries and a strong leader to help build my confidence.  I'm learning a lot in my foster home, like how to walk on leash, have polite house manners and sleep in a crate.  My fosters are sure setting me up for success!  A training class or two would be fun to keep me on track for success. I would love to have a quiet home with a calm setting where I could  be walked twice a day, but relax and hang out at the end of the day.  I would thrive in a home with an older couple or older children in a quiet and loving home.  I'm current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, neutered and microchipped. I will be waiting for a loving and patient family.  Could that be you?
ADOPTED!!!
Hi, my name is Maxine! Didn't they give me a beautiful name? I think so! I'm a 2-3 year old, 55lb. female GSD with TONS of energy. So I guess that makes me a typical German Shepherd.  I actually had an owner, but my owner never came to get me at the shelter. I was lucky enough because EDCGSR saw the potential in me and rescued me from the shelter. I just finished a  board and train program to learn some manners and more specifically, I am learning how to be appropriate with other dogs as I can be a bit pushy and dominate. I can be a bit of a diva! My high energy helps to engage me in training and shine. I would do best as an only dog or with a male dog that I can play with.  I love  people too, but may be a bit too much energy for toddlers, so older children, 12+ are more up my alley. If you love the water then I would be your best pal to enjoy the beach and go for a good swim at the lake. We could play ball as I love to fetch.   I'm current on vaccinations, Heartworm negative, spayed and microchipped.  I would thrive with an active family who has GSD experience and time to spend with me to help me be the best I can be.
ADOPTED!!!
Hi, my name is
Stella!  I'm a beautiful black GSD who is around 5 years old. If you're looking for a very sweet, calm gal who loves chewing on Kongs, buffalo horns or antlers then I'm the gal for you.  If you enjoy going to the lake or beach then I would love to tag along and play in the water too.  I'm good with other dogs  both male and female. Each dog I have met at the rescue has been fun to play with! I am gentle when taking treats and would be great for a family with older children, only because I don't know if I've ever been around little humans. I'm a little shy when meeting new people  and prefer taking it slow, but will warm up to anyone eventually.  I was pulled from Yolo County with 2 other dogs and was probably an outside dog, but I want to be with people.  If you're looking for a GSD who's not too clingy, likes her own space but will come in for hugs and pets, then I might be what the doctor ordered.  I'm current on vaccinations, spayed, heartworm negative and microchipped.
  • ADOPTED!!!Hi, my name is Grant! My friends here at EDCGSR say I am sweet and appropriate with everyone I meet, including other dogs! My rugged good looks and calm demeanor adds to my great personality as a handsome, approximate 5-6 year old, sable GSD. I am lean at around 80 lbs, so I would enjoy regular walks or jogs to keep in shape. I have great house manners, know sit and can speak! My foster family has two other GSD's and I enjoy being part of the pack. I could use some brushing up on basic obedience commands and look forward to making new friends in training class. I will make you proud with my great manners and handsome looks while on walks, car rides, coffee shops, stores or anywhere else. I am very lovable and just want to be with my people, like any GSD! I would do well in a home with older children. I am recovering from a flea allergy, but healing well. I look forward to relaxing and having fun with my new family! I'm current on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative and of course neutered.
Adopted August 2018: Hi my name is Nova and like my name suggests, I'm a star!  I am a young 1.5 year old GSD at a petite 55 pounds. Do not let my petite size fool you though, because I have a big personality and energy to match.  I love to play with other dogs and love people. I have a loving disposition and sweet nature. If you're lucky then I might roll over for a belly rub after play time.  My manners and basic obedience are still a work in progress. So why not give me a chance and we can learn some training tips together?  My attentiveness and energy will help me catch onto commands quickly! If you're looking for a fun, loving and energetic GSD in a compact size, then please contact my friends at EDCGSR so we can meet. I'm current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, spayed and microchipped.

Adopted Aug 2018:Are you looking for an energetic buddy who loves the water, running and going on adventures? Then I am your guy! My name is Atticus, I am a 4-year-old, 80 lb., male, sable shepherd mix. I am a handsome, loving guy who is neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped and HW negative. I would make a great dog to pal around with as I have my basic commands down pat, but further training would be great!  My willingness to please and attentiveness would make you proud and shine in a training class! I know general commands like sit, down, come, place and I walk nicely on a loose leash. Oh, I am house, and crate trained too, so that is a plus. I would do best with an active family who loves to run and go places, so a family with older children would be best, however, I did live in a home with younger children and loved them.  I can be picky about who I warm up to, but don't take it personally. Please contact EDCGSR and fill out an application if I sound like a fun dog. It would be great to meet you!

Are you looking for a diamond in the rough? Then look no further, because I am your girl! My name is
Raven and I am a 6-year-old, female GSD. I am an active girl who requires regular exercise and patience. My basic obedience is set in place. I know sit, stay, come and am crate trained. I am crate trained and house trained but need to learn to use the doggy door. My willingness to please makes me a loyal companion for my new family and fun to train with. Don’t let my age fool you, I can play ball for hours! Does snuggling sound like fun too? I would enjoy laying in your lap or snuggling while watching a movie, reading or taking a nap. I am looking for a patient and loving family, one with children ten years or older. I can be a bit rambunctious for the little ones! I am current on vaccinations, spayed, HW negative and microchipped. If you’re looking for a fun girl who is mature and passed the puppy stage, then contact my friends at EDCGSR and fill out an application.

My name is Smokey! And in my humble opinion, an extremely handsome, highly intelligent, 65 pound, male ,German Shepherd mix.  I smile and wag my tail a lot, am very loving, eager to please and want your approval.  Being 3 years old and still in my teen-age years, I have a puppy-like playfulness and exuberance that makes people think I’m much younger.  I have lots of energy and would love to be your running, hiking, or frisbee buddy but am calm in the house when you want me be to be calm.  I am loyal, devoted, and a great watchdog. My intermediate and advanced obedience classes have taught me how to sit, down, wait (so I won’t bolt out the door), come when called, walk nicely on leash, and get along with strange dogs and people without overly reacting.  I love snacks!!! And will do anything for food so I am highly trainable but I need a stable family that will set boundaries for me and be consistent so I will remember my manners.  I get along with other dogs that have good doggy manners.  My foster family lets me stay in the house with their German Shepherds whenever they are home and I love to play with them.  I am neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, and heart worm negative.  One of my parents is a German Shepherd and the other is a German Shepherd/Labrador Retriever/Shiba Inu mix.  Because of my puppy-like attitude the best home for me would be with older children and adults.  I would like nothing better than to love you and always be by your side but I should only be adopted by an experienced German Shepherd or Shiba Inu owner.

ADOPTED:
Hey, the names Maverick! I am a fun and rambunctious, neutered, 2 year old GSD/labrador mix.  I may have a rough exterior, but I am a softy through and through. I am an easy-going guy and my floppy ears add to my handsome look.
I am an energetic boy who loves to play with my two foster siblings, who are both a male and female GSD's. I enjoy daily walks with my foster siblings at the park and relax under a shady tree and watch others walk by. I do great on leash!
The basic obedience commands are a work in progress, but wouldn't training class be fun! I take treats softly and look to you for guidance, so obedience and direction will be fun with my new family. Oh, I am crate trained and have nice house manners!
My two foster siblings are teaching me boundaries and how to be polite around other dogs. I can be too energetic for them sometimes, so an active family and dogs who can handle my energy would be best.
I am a bit cautious of new people, but warm up to them after a couple minutes.I do jump up in excitement, so a family with older kids would be best at this time.
I enjoy playing with other dogs and am cat workable.
If you're looking for a young boy who loves to play, go for walks, and likes to relax at the end of the day, then I am your guy! Current on vaccinations, Heartworm negative, micro-chipped.

ADOPTED:
Tyke
was born April 4th. He is a handsome sable German Shepherd, who is courageous for his age and has a keen sense of hearing and smell. He is ALL puppy and loves to play with toys, old shoes, slippers, etc. Although he can entertain himself, he would enjoy a playmate that has lots of patience and energy. Tyke is in the process of being potty trained; he sleeps inside (in close proximity to his foster parents) through the night with outdoor breaks every 3 to 4 hours and enjoys the outdoors during the day. Crate training is also being introduced inside the house and car. He is current on all shots, deworming, flea, tick, and heartworm meds. Oh, did we forget to tell you that Tyke has been blind since birth? Tyke needs closer guidance and supervision than most to keep him safe, but as you can tell his disability does not impair his spunk for life and adventure. His foster parents are very experienced because they have owned a blind German Shepherd since a puppy. They successfully training their blind dog in basic obedience, agility, tracking, and fetch. They are confident Tyke can achieve the same level of training and become self sufficient once acclimated to his surroundings.

ADOPTED May 2018 Miley and I’m a 1.5 year old, 55lb. spayed GSD with tons of energy and a willingness to please. I just need some work.  I was found as a stray and my owners never came to look for me.  That’s probably a good thing, however.  Right now, I’m still settling in and learning how to get along with other dogs.  I’m great with people.  I’m really like a blank slate as I’ve had no formal training, but I’m proud to say I know how to Sit now and I am also learning how to walk nicely on a leash.  I’m active.   Did I say I’m active? I love the water and I love to run.  I really need a special person who’s going to take me through some training classes to help me be the best I can be. I’m a little confused right now, everything’s so different …I really want attention and I’m learning how to get it the appropriate way.  If you’re looking for a bomb of a dog, one that will do anything for you, but needs a little work, I’d love to have you consider me. I 'd be great with older children as I can play a bit rough and I'm learning boundaries.  I need someone with patience, and a willingness  to work with me daily.  And I’ll show you what an awesome dog I can be!  I’m current on vaccinations, Heartworm negative, micro-chipped and just waiting for my forever home.

Adopted April 2018
Tucker is a gorgeous sable 3 year old, neutered male, GSD weighing 80lbs.  Since his departure from the shelter Tucker is friendly, once you spend some time with him.  He was very timid when he came to the rescue but is quickly coming out of his shell.  This gorgeous canine is good with people  and other dogs.  Tucker seems to be more friendly with women than men, but will warm up to men eventually.  Since Tucker was so timid upon arrival, we've waited a bit to start working on his manners but at this time he is learning to Sit and to trust humans.   All this stunning guy wants is to be with his person. Tucker is really an amazing canine who wants to be everything for you.  He is loveable, sweet, takes treats nicely and is a dog you really want to be around. Currently Tucker is getting along beautifully with 3 other GSD's and a cat.   Tucker
is current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and micro-chipped. This guys is just waiting for his special person.  He is a keeper.

ADOPTED March 2018:
Holly
is an adorable, 50lb., 18 month, GSD female who you won’t want to miss.  She was pulled from Yolo County as a stray, after she’d been abandoned and hit by a car.  She’s great with other dogs and loves people.  A real cuddle bug.  She’s crate trained and we are working on house training.  This girl is very sensitive and just wants to please.  Holly is working on her manners and she responds nicely to correction.  This gem would be fine with kids, 5 years and older, but she might want to chase a cat.  With training this girl is going to be what ever you want her to be.  She’s a bit active right now at a  year and a half, but this cutie is going to make someone an excellent partner.  Holly is current on vaccinations, spayed, Heartworm negative, and microchipped.

ADOPTED February 2018: Ahnika is a one year old black and tan, 55lb. very calm, female who was found as a stray.  This girl is a pocket sized GSD, but with all the traits of a German Shepherd.  She's friendly with people, plays well with other dogs, both male and female, and  knows certain commands like, Sit and Wait.  And this adorable pup  is already house trained.  Ahnika definitely lives up to her name which means gracious.  She is learning to walk well on leash and exist in a household with other dogs.  This girl is so calm and willing to please, that a home with cats might even be an option for her.
Adopted January 2018:Sage is 1-2 year old, 65lb. GSD mix with the sweetest face and temperament and an active personality.  Sage has got a lot of energy and needs an owner willing to work on training and exercise. Sage is spayed, current on vaccinations, micro chipped and heartworm negative.  More to come on Sage as we spend more time with this sweet girl.
Minimum adoption donation: $350.00
Adopted December 2017:  Shep is an extremely sweet, 90Lb.  6 year old male who had been neglected by his family.  This middle aged guy  is the "Bomb".  He gets along with everyone, dogs, people, and maybe even cats.   Shep is one of the nicest dogs to come around.  He was an outside only dog, but on his 3rd day at the rescue, he was given the run of the house. This sweet, goofy, guy is looking for a place he can hang out.  He likes to go for walks or just relax. He absolutely loves to swim, so going to the river or lake is a must for him.  He has just finished his last treatment for Heartworm and is recovering nicely.  It's hard to keep a good dog down.  Shep has excellent recall, knows Sit, Down and Stay.  However, gentleman could use some work on walking on a  loose leash.  Shep does have a lick granuloma on his front leg that he's undergoing treatment for so he could be considered a medical needs dog.  But don't let that stop you.  This old soul is truly a dog you won't forget.
Shep is neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped and recently treated for heartworm.
Adopted December 2017:  Inga is an adorable, 50 lb. 2 year old GSD with a ton of personality.   She was an owner surrender and our guess is she was too energetic for their lifestyle. She is extremely sweet and has a ton of energy. She is a quick learner and has a great nose.  This spunky young girl loves the water.  She would do great in an active environment with people who understand the breed and can teach her some manners.  Don't let her good looks fool you , she's full of smarts and would excel at agility due to her size, speed, and willingness to please.  She  is crate trained, knows Sit, Down, walks nicely on leash, and currently working on other instructions.  She does well with other dogs with proper introduction and is currently learning how to play with other dogs here at the rescue.  Inga is spayed, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped.
Adopted December December 2017:  Phoenix, is an 18 month old, male,75lb. GSD who is going to make someone an excellent companion.  He is a sweet, playful, goofball that is learning boundaries.  In his past life, Phoenix lived with children, however, he was locked in an apartment for most of the time and is now working on trusting all humans.  He’s had some formal dog training, and knows Sit, and Come and was house trained.  Phoenix has recovered nicely from surgery for bladder stones, possibly from being left inside without water or the opportunity to eliminate.  Because of this situation and genetics, this wonderful guy will most likely need to be on special dog food for his life to prevent the stones from returning.  But don't let that stop you.  Phoenix loves to run, play and just be with his person. With a little work and dedication, this sweetheart could be the perfect fit for your family.
Phoenix is neutered, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and Heartworm negative.
Adopted December 2017:  Dino is a  3year old, 90lb., sweet, GSD mix with tons of energy and a willingness to please.  This young guy loves to go for walks and wants to connect with a human. Dino is a big goofball.  He loves to go for walks and hang out with his person. He plays fetch. He is great with the dogs here at the rescue and loves to play in the water.  He knows Sit, and Down and his recall is great, but he's working on walking on a loose leash.  Dino is house trained and crate trained.  Due to his size, energy and strength, this  pup needs a dog owner who is willing to continue with him on training and socialization.  Don't let his size fool you, he's really a big baby in disguise.
Dino is neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped and heartworm negative.

Adopted December 2017:  Ranger is a 2 year old, exceptional, well mannered, evenly tempered,80lb. male GSD with good blood lines. This handsome guy loves to play with other dogs, loves the water and just wants to be with his person.  He is learning to walk on a loose leash, knows Sit and Come, is house trained, and gets along with large and small dogs. He loves people and would be fine with children.   Ranger is an extremely quick learner and just wants to please. This stunning canine was purchased from a breeder, but neglected by his owner who was unable to care for his medical needs.  Unfortunately, this gorgeous canine has Perianal Fistulas, and will require specific care and medication for an indefinite period.   Even with his medical needs, Ranger is by far One of a Kind.  Ranger is neutered, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and heartworm negative.
Adopted November 2017:  Jake aka Hanz  is a smart, big, beautiful 3 year old , 95 lb. male GSD teddy bear, who loves people and children.  His love of people is pretty amazing considering the neglect he faced for the first part of his life.  He is now a different dog.  This handsome guy was basically flea and tick food.  He was left outside without shelter, food, or affection, but lots of pain.  When he was 8 months old he was bit by a rattle snake and almost died.  This was the only trip to the vet he ever took.  This champion has suffered many medical challenges, overcoming them successfully.  He is  a healthy, happy, gorgeous canine.  Jake  is a more independent Shepherd who prefers to be outside, however, enjoys spending time with family, lying  quietly at your feet.  He would love to be in a family with children.  Jake is not a super active dog and would be fine with a walk around the block.  This striking dog must be in a home with no small dogs or cats because he doesn't know his own strength.  Jake  is neutered, current on vaccinations and heartworm negative.

Adopted:  Seth is the most friendly 4 year old GSD mix? you will ever meet.  This outgoing guy is sweet, lovable and easy to be with.  He's a goofy, fun loving dog who just wants to play. He's active, attentive, loves people and gets along well with other dogs.  Seth knows sit and is working on some manners like walking on a loose leash.  He takes treats nicely and likes to fetch a Kong. This guy would make a great family dog for kids 10 and up as he is very exuberant and could knock younger children down.  Seth needs a foster home where he can be part of a family.  Seth is neutered, current on vaccinations, Heartworm negative and microchipped.   More to come on this fantastic canine as his personality unfolds.

ADOPTED:Luna is a gorgeous 2 year old, 55lb. female, GSD.
This stunning lady was sent to the shelter for running around in the county.  She is a bit timid, but after some coaxing will take treats nicely and come in for more love. She even gave kisses.   She is good with other dogs and loves to play with them.   She knows Come, Sit and is working on leash manners. Luna has improved tremendously here at the rescue and is looking for a home where she can have  more one on one attention to help her get past her fear of the unknown.

Luna is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped and heartworm negative.

Could you be the next partner for this gem?
Ruby is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped and heartworm negative.

Pantera is a 1 year, 3 month, spayed female, Shepherd/ Lab mix, 55.3 lbs. Her family had found her a couple months prior and decided they couldn't afford to treat her skin issues.  She went out to foster care to recover from her skin issues.  While in foster care she would become overly aroused and had bitten a couple of people during play.  At the shelter, Pantera has done fairly well except that she is getting increasingly kennel stressed and her behavior towards dogs has become increasingly aggressive.  Please watch her video though, as you can see, she is doing well in many other areas.  Pantera is already spayed, chipped, heartworm negative, and vaccinated.
Zeus is a very sweet, timid, 65 lb.  10 month old male  GSD who is looking for someone with patience and GSD experience.  This young guy needs a second chance at a perfect life.
Dahlia(Dolly) is a 3 year old, gorgeous silky black haired 66lb. female GSD mix or long haired GSD.  This girl could put on at least 25 lbs. Dolly was pulled from the Stockton shelter where she had obviously just had puppies.  This girl is sweet and loving and she just wants to be with people.  It is apparent that she’s had some training as she knows Sit and Down.  Dolly gets along well with the other dogs and really loves to run and play.  She is working on being crate trained and walking on a loose leash.  On our trip back from the shelter she laid quietly on the seat with her head in a volunteer’s lap.  This girl has the most beautiful eyes and sweet face.  Dolly is a new comer to the rescue.  Dolly is spayed, current on vaccinations and Heartworm negative and micro-chipped.

Pearl is the epitome of a German Shepherd Dog with her black and tan coloring.  This survivor is alive due to a Good Samaritan who saw her get hit by a car and took her to an emergency vet clinic.  Pearl had a fractured pelvic bone and lost her puppies, but this amazing sweetheart is recovering nicely.  She is loveable and friendly and way to active for her condition.   With all that’s happened to this beauty, she is still friendly, and just wants to be with people.
Gabriel is a 70lb. serious,  calm, sweet, 3-4 year old male, GSD mix, looking to connect and be with his human.  He's playful, attentive, and gets along well with other dogs.  This guy is athletic and can run like the wind. He is a new face at the rescue, but is already fitting in quite well.   He loves to run and play but prefers to be with the humans. Gabriel is learning some basic commands like Sit, Stay, and how to walk on a loose leash. He is crate trained.  This guy is current on vaccinations, Heartworm negative and neutered.

I am a 2 year old, 55 pound, female German Shepherd.  I am super sweet, obedient, eager to please, and want your approval.  I get along well with both male and female German Shepherds in my foster home and I love to play with them!  I have lots of energy when you want me to, but I am calm in the house when you want me to be calm.  I live in the house when my foster parents are at home and since I am just getting out of my puppy stage, as long as I can chew on Nylabones I won’t chew on anything else.  My beginning dog obedience class has taught me how to sit, down, wait (so I won’t bolt out the door), come when called, walk nicely on leash, and get along with strange dogs without overly reacting.  I am spayed, vaccinated, micro-chipped, and heart worm negative.

Toby is an adorable 10month old 55 lb. sable GSD pup full of love and lots of energy. This guy gets along great with with everyone, dogs, kids, and with guidance, would probably get along with cats.   Toby  is eager to please and looking for that one person or family to help mold him into the GSD he is meant to be.  He is working  on walking on  a loose leash, sit, and down. He is crate trained  and at the perfect age to work with.  This guy would make a great companion for anyone.  If you're looking for a young GSD pup with a sweet personality, willing to please and waiting for his forever home, give Toby a try.  Toby has found his furever home in El Dorado Hills.
Bella, is a 65lb, 4 year old, spayed female, with lots of energy, however this girl is calm and gentle.  She craves human affection and belly rubs and will paw at you to get them.  Bella walks nicely on leash but can pull a bit when she sees a squirrel or cat.   What self respecting GSD wouldn't?  She knows sit, down, come, and is learning wait. Bella is being fostered with other dogs and gets along fine with them.  This beautiful canine is a playful,  silly, summisive female who would do great in a home with other dogs and children.
Abby is a beautiful, 2 1/2 year old, friendly, female GSD looking for her forever home. Abby is great with people and gets along well with other dogs. She is sweet, active and wanting that connection with a human, as all GSD's do. Abby is being re-homed because her owner does not have the time necessary to spend with Abby. Abby is current on vaccinations, and spayed. More info on Abby to come.

Ally
is an easy going 4-5 year old female GSD weighing 65 lbs.  She is good with other dogs, but can be a bit bossy at times, however, she is easily redirected. She loves to play fetch  and loves to run.  She is  friendly to new people, but would be protective of family and has a strong desire to be a part of the family. She is very loving and would probably do well with kids and it's possible cats.   Ally is crate trained and doesn't bark when kenneled, although she would much rather be with people. Additionally Ally knows how to sit, and lay down.  If you're looking for a great companion, one that's out of the puppy stage, but still very active, Ally could be the girl for you.   She is current on all vaccines, spayed, and HW negative.

Seraphim is a very  fun, loving, snugly, goofy, and extremely intelligent young pup. Her foster parents and the shelter that she was taken from think that she  is between 14 weeks to 20 weeks old and at 31 pounds. She is learning really quickly on boundaries with dogs and about house rules; she hasn't yet had an accident. She has done really well driving in a car with other dogs. Seraphim has been working hard to become the best dog that she can be for her furever home.

Hank went to his furever home in August 2017

Lacy is a very loving and affectionate,60-65lb. 5 year old, spayed GSD looking for her forever home. This beauty is being rehomed because her current family took in another younger female and they are
finding it hard to share. Lacy is not the problem in this situation, but would be the easier of the 2 dogs
to rehome. This sweetheart gets along GREAT with kids. She gets along with other dogs as well, but
would be best in a home with a male dog. Lacy would be great for an active family with children who have had some dog experience. This beauty has been through some training and knows the
Commands: Sit, Place, Down, Off, Leave it, Heel, and Stay. She is house-trained, crate trained and walks nicely on a leash. She is current on vaccinations. If you are looking for a stunning German shepherd, one that’s great with kids and other dogs, but out of the puppy stage yet still very active, Lacy could be your next four legged family member.
Darcy, is a 5 year old GSD female in need of a forever home. This girl is a 75lb. sweet girl who loves her food and humans. She's great with people, but sometimes wants to mother other dogs and needs a polite reminder. She lives to be with her human and needs a reliable human who knows this breed. Darcy has been in several homes, and has been returned for chewing, barking and jumping up, all typical dog behaviors, so the Rescue is looking for someone interested in helping this beautiful soul reach her potential. She loves to go on walks, but isn't interested in agility as she's got some physical issues. Darcy is the perfect dog for an older person who likes to take long walks, or a quiet family, one who wants a dog to sleep at their feet.
She's lived with cats and some other dogs. Darcy is crate trained and walks well on a leash. This girl is spayed, current on vaccinations.
Naya is a stunning, 2 year old spayed, female GSD.  She was dumped by her previous family because it was said, she was difficult to handle after being left outside all day.  Of course, she became destructive looking for an avenue to release her youthful energy. Now, however,  Naya is doing fantastic in her foster home.  She’s living with 2 other females and is working on getting along with both; not an easy task for anyone.  Naya and her BFF, Mia,  have begun spending supervised time playing in the yard and laying together. Naya  would  do well in a home with another dog.  Her obedience training is going well. This young beauty does not pull on leash when walking, rides great in a truck, and is aware of commands.  She is  very loving and will make long deep eye contact. She is quite gentle and continues to have a soft mouth when playing or taking treats.  Naya gets along well with all humans, children included.  Once she settles in and experiences some love, guidance, and being part of a family she will make a wonderful family dog.
Honey is pure love-a dog that is sweeter than her name! She is a gorgeous red and black 8 year old
female German Shepherd mix with soft floppy ears and big brown eyes that will make her melt in your
arms! Honey acts like a dog that is half her age for she is energetic, playful, very affectionate, and loves
going for walks and car rides. She is gentle and loves people very much. Even though Honey has lived with both male and female German Shepherds inside and outside of the house, she prefers not play
with them but rather interact with her humans. According to her last owner Honey barks at and chases cats. Honey is very eager to please, very trainable and easily redirected. She walks well on leash, comes when called, knows sit, and is learning “wait” and “down”.
Prince is 7-9 month old bi-colored male.  He is current on all shots, neutered, heartworm negative & micro-chipped.  This sweet boy was found in the Somerset area without a collar, a little on the thin side and full of ticks.  He was picked up on a busy road by a Good Samaritan and although many efforts were made to find his owners he went unclaimed.  He has only been with his foster for a short period of time so we will have to update as time goes by.  He rides nicely in a car, knows sit and walks ok on a leash. He very smart and eager to learn, playful, likes the ball.  He is still a puppy so we are working on manners and he is learning how to interact with his new foster brothers and sisters.  After he has been given some time to adjust he will be tested with cats.  Prince would do well with an active family who has time to spend with him on daily exercise and training.
Picture

Millie is an adorable 9 month old, 80lb GSD Puppy. She has an enormous amount of energy and requires daily exercise. She does well with other dogs - male and female, and is extremely playful. Millie has very basic training. She knows sit, down, shake, and is both house and crate trained. She pulls on a leash, but could easily be trained not to. She is a very willful puppy and needs a home with someone who will train her out of her puppy habits.  Millie is extremely friendly and lived in a home with young kids.  She would do great as a search and rescue or tracking dog, as she has a great nose.
Chewy, is an extremely sweet, 6 year old 95lb, male. GSD who could stand to lose a few pounds.  It ‘s obvious Chewy was left in a backyard without much exercise, however, this middle aged sweet boy is working out at the Rescue.  He enjoys going for walks and runs behind the quad and is beginning to trim down.  He loves the water.  He gets along great with all the dogs and he adores people.  Chewy could use some training, but the basics of good behavior and a kind sweet soul are all there.
Elise is a sweet 78lb, 1 year old female looking for her forever home. She craves one on one attention, whether that means playing or just hanging out. She is friendly with everyone, even people she doesn't know. Elise is an active young girl and loves to go on walks. She is a little pushy with other dogs, but is not aggressive. She is easy to redirect and there is rarely a moment where a simple 'no' won't stop her from doing something.
Hunter is a 75lb, 9 month-1year old GSD puppy with tons of energy and curiosity. He is sweet all day long, and loves people. Hunter does well with dogs that he knows, and is a more submissive male. He is quick to learn, working on basic obedience and walking on a loose leash. He loves to give kisses and to chase the ball. He would do best in a home with older kids, purely because he is unaware of his surroundings and forgets how big he is.

Dillon is a fabulous 4 year old, 80lb. GSD, male who will really knock your socks off.  This guys is a real gem!   He's been raised with kids, is OK with cats, and gets along great with other dogs.  He loves people.  Dillon is house trained, and crate trained but prefers to sleep with his family. He's got great recall, knows Sit and  he's working on walking on a leash without pulling.  This guy is happy go lucky.  He loves to play fetch and play in the water.  Dillon is looking for his forever home because his family, who loves him dearly, realized they wanted him to have a family who could spend more time with him. If you're looking for the perfect GSD,  one who will be your best friend and go with you everywhere.

Rosemary is an adorable, very sweet, loving 3-5 year old spayed GSD. This girl came in as a stray from a shelter and can be a bit shy until you get to know her.  She is reactive to new people, but warms up with treats. She bonds easily to one person and just wants to be with her human. She gets along well with most dogs, but can be a bit bossy for some females so she would prefer a male. She has a bark that sounds twice her size and is a great watch dog, but this young lady wants to be the center of your whole world. Rosie just wants to please and is very easily redirected. She is house trained and walks nicely on a leash. She plays well with the other dogs here at the rescue. This gal, would probably do well with smaller dogs with some introduction, as she got along great with Buddy and is currently living and loving a cat!.  She does have some separation anxiety, so she would do well with someone who works from home or a family with secure fencing.

Duke is a 75lb., stunning, black and tan, 4-5 year old, male, GSD with a very sweet personality.  He's loving and friendly to people and other dogs he meets, however this GSD is very independent.  Duke is adjusting well, here at the rescue.  He is a typical GSD in that he justs wants to be with and please humans, but this guy is in no way typical!!! This handsome, young man is very active,  and lively.  He's got an alpha personality and would require an experienced GSD owner. This boy would love a home with a playmate, but would be fine by himself.  He would love an active family with older children or an active single person.  He's working on his manners and how to walk nicely on a loose leash, but needs obedience training. Currently he is being crate trained.  If you're looking for a beautiful, independent, GSD to be your everything,

Jackson  is a beautiful, black, approximately 1 year old, male GSD weighing 67 lbs. but he definitely needs to put on weight. This guy has loads of personality.  He's happy, playful and very attentive to humans, especially women. Jackson really wants to please, but he can be a bit shy when you first meet him.  He warms up quickly to women, and with treats, is more responsive to men.  He loves to play with most of the dogs here at the rescue, but would be best with a secure older female, one willing to put up with his adolescent behavior, or one closer to his age he can play with.   With proper introductions Jackson would probably get alone with most dogs. This guy is really a "diamond in the rough", but needs someone with some  GSD experience as he's at that young age where he's looking for a leader and checking boundaries.  Jackson is doing well with his manners and walking on leash.  This gorgeous canine is looking for an active family, willing to invest some time and training to help him  obtain his full potential.  Jackson needs a job.  We think Jackson  would do well at Search and Rescue, being someone's Service Dog, or agility.  Jackson is living in a foster home with a cat and doing well.
Lucy is a 3 year old 40lb GSD mix looking for her forever family. She loves to run around and chase balls, and is great with other dogs, and enjoys chasing them as well. She is timid with new people, but will warm up nicely with food and seems to prefer women to men. Lucy would do best in a home with someone with GSD/dog training experience. She does well with cats and will play with them if they play with her, however will also leave them alone if they show no interest. Lucy does not show signs of separation anxiety and does very well when left alone in the house. She is in the process of being house trained.

Harley is a 70 lb., sweet 4 year old female GSD. This girl is happy all day long.  She is extremely ball driven which can cause her to seem aloof, but she will interact with you if you're willing to play.   She loves to play with a ball and is more interested in playing ball than playing with other dogs, although she does  get along with other dogs.   Harley is a very intelligent, grounded female who needs to find the right environment where her personality can be nourished.

Apollo is a 2 year old 85lb, very sweet dog with an amazing athletic ability. He's high energy and very motivated to work.  Apollo loves his ball and will work for it.  This majestic goofball  loves people and other dogs .  He is house trained, knows sit, stay, come, and down. He is very friendly, lived with kids, five and older. He needs an active family with dog experience or someone familiar with the breed. Apollo needs to be in a family where there is someone home most of the day. He craves the attention of people over dogs.

Petra is 2 year old, 80 pound GSD Mix who's favorite thing to do is hang out with her family. She is a very active dog who loves to do active things like going on walks or playing keep away with her toys. She loves running around in the yard and making sure everyone walking by knows she is there.
She is a very strong female personality. Her name means "rock" which is exactly her. She would not do well in a home with cats or other small animals. Currently, she is dog reactive, but shows promise in improving on that! Petra is allergic to grain, so she requires quality grain-free food and she has seasonal skin allergies that may need medication. She is beautiful, and loving and very willing to please.
Diesel is a timid, loving, and adorable goofball with such expressive ears!  He is a 2 year old male GSD weighing in at 62 lbs. with black and tan markings, most notably his “raccoon mask” as I like to call it.  He currently is on a mission to be loved by the two cats he lives with.  His bark is intimidating, but really his goal is to play with all dogs, cats and humans who are within the vicinity. Diesel loves to have his tummy rubbed, will crawl into your lap if you’d let him and would just be content to just be able to cuddle with his human.  He is doing well with his manners and knows basic commands with motivation to please.  He needs someone with GSD experience, because he does needs leadership and chhecking boundaries.  He has been raised to be an indoor dog and is crate trained, house trained and walks nicely on a leash after his initial excitement wears off.  He loves his walks, car rides and to play fetch would make his day.  His diet consists of kibble and fresh fruit and vegetables.  He is well mannered in that he does not beg for table scraps.  Diesel does have some separation anxiety and needs someone who would work with him on this.
Chester is a 6-7 month old male GSD mix puppy weighing 40 lbs. He was found wandering in rural Yolo County, and his family never came for him.
Chester is a sweet, soft boy who craves affection. When I went to get him from his kennel today, he wagged his tail but looked a little uncertain (we hadn't met yet). I gave him some treats and leashed him without trouble, and we walked together to an outdoor yard with no pulling on-leash.
Outside, Chester padded over to a volunteer and flopped down next to her, rolling over for belly rubs. His poor skin is so scabby and sore, you have to be careful where you pet him! Chester really wanted cuddles, and was sweet and smiley with both of us. He was a little spooked by the tarp flapping in the wind, and looked up and crouched a little, but recovered quickly.
We introduced Chester to a female pit bull, and he was timid at first but soon began to play with her.
According to the vet, Chester was infested with fleas and had foxtails in one eye and all along his torso. He has a severe case of Demodex with a secondary bacterial skin infection. The eye that had foxtails in it has a corneal ulcer.

Lizzie is a sweet 5 year old silver and black GSD who lost her owner,  whom she was extremely devoted to.  Lizzie is used to living around kids of all ages and is very sensitive to people. She is very loving, and adores  all types of attention. She is okay with cats under direct supervision and ignores them most of the time.  She walks nicely on a loose leash, but  is used to being out in the country with fences where she can run and play a lot.  She loves her bed, and  wants to sleep right next to yours.   Lizzie  needs people who will be gentle and sensitive with her, while providing reliable leadership.  She is very praise and food driven, and would respond very well to training.  She sits and downs very well.  Her recall is very good.  She is polite in the house and respectful of our stuff.  Lizzie is seeking a forever home where she can get a lot of love and attention with owners who really want to enjoy a close relationship with a special girl.   She NEEDS to be an integral part of the family, and wants to be where you are at all times.

Sam is a gorgeous, young, neutered, 85lb. , 2 year old GSD male. This guy is awesome. He has lived with other dogs and young children ages 1-6 years old.  Sam is good with other females but can be a bit pushy for other males.  Sam is active and loves to run and play with people.  Sam loves the water!  This guy would be great for an active  family with children and a stay at home mom, or someone able to take him along, as he can be a bit of an escape artist.  He will stay around if someone is home, but needs secure fencing if left alone.  Sam would be best with a large female  to play with.  Sam is working on walking nicely on a leash, sit and stay. He is also crate trained and house trained.  This gorgeous canine can be a bit of a handful and needs to go to someone with some GSD experience as he loves to test his boundaries.

Shasta is a one year old, white, neutered male German Shepherd weighing 95lbs., with a very sweet disposition.  He was introduced to another "pup" here at the rescue and they both started playing and romping around.  He is great with people, a real "Lovebug" and seems to prefer just hanging around.  He's been an outside dog only, as he prefers being outside, but he is currently  working on his house manners and walking on a leash.  Shasta was raised with a cat at one time and gave that feline a wide berth, so with some polite introductions, we could see Shasta living in a home with cats.  Shasta is great with kids and loves the water. This beautiful boy is looking for his forever home because his current owners want to find him a home where he will receive more attention.  If you are looking for a very sweet, calm, happy GSD and might be interested in fostering or adopting, please contact us regarding this noble canine.
Marley is a Boxer, German Shepherd Mix, approx. 8-9 month old, 55 lbs, current on vaccinations and HW neg.  He was found as a stray.  This adorable guy is good with cats, children and small dogs.  He does well with larger dogs with proper introductions. He is good with kids, but he would be better in a home with older children since he is still very playful. He is very sweet, loving and just wants to be with his humans.  Marley is working on his leash and house manners, but is a quick learner.

Lacey is a 1 year old, white,  energetic GSD weighing about 65lbs. She is a high energy pup who craves the attention of people along with physical exercise.  This beautiful girl just loves to please.  She would do great in a outdoorsy family or with an owner willing to play with her. She loves to chase other dogs, so might not be  great with cats, however she could be easily trained.  She loves to play with balls and is often very vocal, as most Shepherds are.   Lacey knows how to sit on command, is working on  being leash and crate trained.   Lacey is great with other dogs, but can play a bit rough for the smaller dogs.  This gorgeous gal,  loves the water and loves to run.  She is very intelligent and willing to please and she has a great recall.
Romeo is a gorgeous red and black, 6-7 year old, 75lb, GSD male. This guy is sweet all day long. He loves people and all dogs, but really needs to be with his people or another dog.
This gentleman walks nicely on a leash, is house trained.   This gem is in rescue due to being HW positive and will be receiving his treatment soon.
This beautiful sweet boy would do fine with anyone, kids, other dogs and probably cats with the correct introduction.

Anya is a very sweet approximately 1 year old, 50lb.  spayed,  GSD female who gets along great with all the dogs at the rescue.
She loves to play and run with the all  dogs at the facility. She’s great with people and dogs she meets.
She will walk nicely on a leash around dogs she is familiar with, however, she has exhibited some reactivity to dogs on leash she does not know.  For this reason, Anya  needs an experienced dog person, someone willing to work her through this challenge.  She is a beautiful GSD female, on the smaller side and would be a great fit for an active family or single person with some dog experience.  Anya is crate trained, house trained and willing to do anything for you.
Stoli is a very sweet 3 year old neutered male.
He is great with people and children of all ages.
Stoli's current family has a 3 year old child.  Stoli gets along with other female dogs , but would probably need a controlled introduction for more alpha males.
Stoli is working on his manners, sit, down and walking nicely on a  leash and would do well with someone with some GSD experience.
Stole is a very nice dog who just needs someone willing to give him some attention. This guy has a lot of energy and would love a home with lots of land to run and play on or an active, outdoorsy family. He loves his ball and loves to play fetch.  He is great with kids of all ages.
Sam  is a large,6 year old, 90+lb. GSD who's about as awesome as he can get.  He is a beautiful, calm, very regal, GSD who was turned in by his owner for barking.  Is n’t that how dogs communicate?  Sam  takes a little while to warm up to you but after that he’s your best friend.  Sam is playful with the other dogs here at the rescue and is in great shape.  He jumped right up in the back of a pickup! He likes to go on walks, and loves the water.  Sam has been getting along well with all the dogs, large and small, but does seem to want to be the male in charge.  Sam is house-trained, crate trained, and walks well on leash.  He is very human oriented and only wants to be with his humans.
Roxie is an adorable 1 year old GSD mix, weighing around 40lbs.  She's a bit on the thin side, but has a great appetite.  She's got the cutest face and ears that we think will eventually stand up.  She gets along well with other dogs, loves to run and jump!  This girl would do great with an active family with children as she's a little one herself.  She loves to snuggle and enjoys curling up in your lap.  She's crate trained and is learning house manners and training in her new foster home.
