Hi, my name is Maxine! Didn't they give me a beautiful name? I think so! I'm a 3-4 year old, 55lb. female GSD with TONS of energy. So I guess that makes me a typical German Shepherd. I actually had an owner, but my owner never came to get me at the shelter. I was lucky enough because EDCGSR saw the potential in me and rescued me from the shelter. Presently, I'm in a board and train program to learn some manners. More specifically, I am learning how to be appropriate with other dogs as I can be a bit pushy and dominate. I can be a bit of a diva! My high energy helps to engage me in training and shine. I may do well with an older, confident male dog. Due to my high energy level and prey drive a home with cats and small dogs would not be ideal. I love people too, but may be a bit too much energy for toddlers, so older children, 12+ are more up my alley. If you love the water then I would be your best pal to enjoy the beach and go for a good swim at the lake. We could play ball and I could probably fetch it in the water too. Hi, my name is Max! I'm a 4 year old GSD mix with a handsome tan coat and black saddle. I can be a little timid when meeting new people at first, but will warm up to most anyone. I'm living in a foster home with 2 other male dogs and get along pretty well with them. Sometimes I want to try and be boss but it never goes far. I thrive with clear boundaries and a strong leader to help build my confidence. I'm learning a lot in my foster home, like how to walk on leash, have polite house manners and sleep in a crate. My fosters are sure setting me up for success! A training class or two would be fun to keep me on track for success. I would love to have a quiet home with a calm setting where I could be walked twice a day, but relax and hang out at the end of the day. Hi, my name is Stella! I'm a beautiful black GSD who is around 5 years old. If you're looking for a very sweet, calm gal who loves chewing on Kongs, buffalo horns or antlers then I'm the gal for you. If you enjoy going to the lake or beach then I would love to tag along and play in the water too. I'm good with other dogs both male and female. Each dog I have met at the rescue has been fun to play with! I am gentle when taking treats and would be great for a family with older children, only because I don't know if I've ever been around little humans. Hi, my name is Onyx! I'm a very handsome 3-4 year old neutered male GSD weighing 90 lbs. with tons of personality. I was pulled from Yolo county shelter where I wasn't getting much attention from potential adopters. I'm not sure if it's because I'm black, or because I was having some eye problems. Luckily, we're getting the eyes taken care of. I get along great with female dogs, and most males, along as they aren't too pushy. You know how males can be. For now, I'm learning how to walk on a loose leash and commands like Sit, Wait, Place and Come. I've only been at the rescue a short time now but I'm learning to trust humans again. Did someone say ball? I love to play ball all day long and don't mind a good Kong either! If you enjoy the water then I will be right beside you swimming and playing. Nike is a 2-3year old, neutered male GSD mix, weighing around 55lbs. This small dude is full of energy and ready to rock. Nike, like his name, is an active guy who would make a great walking or hiking partner. This guy needs a little time to adjust to new surroundings. Water sports, dog park, hiking, running, and adventure? That all sounds like fun to me! Hi, my name is Butte. I was found during the Butte fires last year, so hence the name. I am a white, male GSD, approximately 4 years old. I can be a bit shy around new people, so it will take me time to warm up. The dog parks are fun, and I get to play with older children there too. In true GSD fashion I do alarm bark at home or sense an intruder. I do bark when I see men in baseball caps but can be easily corrected. Do you have a dog or two already? I get along with easy-going dogs and would prefer a canine companion. Since I am energetic I would do best with an active family, one that enjoys water sports and swimming. I am a 3-year-old, female GSD and around 75lbs. A good Samaritan found me in the river and I was too weak to get out on my own so they rescued me. I weighed 25lbs. at that time, but I have progressed nicely and put on weight. So happy for a second chance at life!
My basic obedience is great, and I am crate trained, house trained and walk nicely on leash. An obedience class would be fun and help me bond with my new owner! I know sit, down, come, wait, and leave it. I get along with other dogs with proper introduction. Due to my high prey drive a home with cats or small animals is not recommended. My interest would be too high and end up chasing them. My great personality allows me to be around children with proper supervision. Hi, I am Cassidy! I am a 5 year old, female GSD mix. Aren’t my ears cute? They add to my very loving and excitable nature. From what I hear, I am one of the volunteer’s favorites at the rescue! Just like my other fellow GSD’s at the rescue, I have lots of energy and would do well with an active family, without children or female dogs. Though, I get along with most male dogs given proper introduction.
I am a cautious girl who takes time to warm-up to people, but once I trust you, look out, because you’re in my circle forever! I do prefer females to males but can trust them over time.
